The main tourist activity indicators registered in Moldova in the 1-st semester of 2006, are as follows:

The greatest number of people visiting our country comes from:
- Romania – 18,6 %
- Turkey – 11,9 %
- Ukraine – 10,8 %
- Russia – 10,2 %
- SUA – 5,9 %

By purpose of visit, traveling to Moldova is classified as:
- business and professional – 50,7 %
- leisure – 44,5 %
- treatment - 3,1%
- other purposes- 1,7 %

The number of tourists accommodated during 9 months 2006 constitutes 260290 persons that represents an 5,1 % increase in comparison with the same period last year.

The total number of nights registered in the accommodation structures constitutes 1506569 that represents an 35,7 % increase in comparison with the same period last year.

The international tourism activity funds were raised to 168802,3 thousand lei, that being 35,7 % more than in the 1st semester of 2005.
