The main tourist activity indicators registered in Moldova in the period of January-September 2005, are as follows:

The number of local visitors consisted of 52 420 people, which is 2,8 % (1462 people) more than in the same period last year.
The number of foreign visitors in Moldova was of 18 312 people, or 15,6% more than in the same period last year.

The greatest number of people visiting our country comes from:
- USA – 13,5 %
- Romania – 13,2%
- Russia – 12,9 %
- Turkey – 12,4 %
- Ukraine – 12,2%

By purpose of visit, traveling to Moldova is classified as:
- business and professional – 65,3%
- leisure – 31,4%
- other purposes- 3,3%

The international tourism activity funds were raised to 124 398,1 thousand lei, that being 21,3% more than in the same period of 2004.
