Description:
During his exile in Moldova, Alexander Pushkin wrote “these places are favourable for the soul of a poet ”. Indeed, the picturesque landscape, our hospitable and hardworking people left a great impression upon the Russian poet, who wrote "The Black Shawl”and “The Gypsies” here and started “Evghenii Oneghin”, all everlasting works. The trip starts at the Pushkin House and Museum in Chisinau, where the poet lived. The interior design, the period furniture, the place where Pushkin wrote so creatively transfers you into the atmosphere of the XIXth century Chisinau. Enthusiasts can read some of the poet’s original manuscripts.
Our road then follows Pushkin’s footsteps through Moldova. In the Nisporeni Forest, in Dolna village, there is the mansion of the Ralli-Arbores, which was frequently visited by poet. From the tops of the hills a beautiful view opens up of the village surrounded by quiet, green forest. A pretty path leads to “Zamfira’s Spring”. The beautiful Zamfira, they say, inspired Pushkin to write his immortal poems in the most fruitful period of his life.
The atmosphere of the XIXth century has been preserved inside the mansion in Donici Village (40 km north Chisinau). The family of Donici, the famous Moldovan fable writer, was often visited by Pushkin. A trip to the Dolnici House and Museum can be arranged and the village is also worth a visit.
